Stevenage and District Motorcycle Club

 Our Club Runs

The following are some of the run outs we have had during the years

both the Bank Holiday Monday runs and the general Sunday runs

May Day Run Out

 Monday 3rd  May 2010

Bournemouth and The new Forest

Due to inclement weather this planned run did not take place, it is rescheduled for Whitsun Monday, 31st may 2010

Easter Monday Run Out

Monday 5th April 2010

 Ace Café Southend Shakedown

The first major ride out of the year was a great success, many new members attended and the weather was fine for us. Southend was undergoing some major works so the front was out of bounds for parking and our usual cafe was shut, the alternative cafe was however very good value!!!

Some Photos; Thanks to Colleen.

The Ride To The Wall

six hardy club members braved the early start, chilly weather and long ride to attend this event held in aid of the "Help for Heroes" fund.

Over 5000 bikes assembled at Drayton Manor Park before the fairly short, and very well marshalled, ride to the National Memorial site at Litchfield, see the web site at  www.thenma.org.uk/ for more details.

Or see the Ride To The Wall site at www.rttw.org

Whit Monday

Margate Meltdown

Monday May 25th 2009

nine bikes rode down to the seaside resort famous in its sixties heyday, we stopped at the delightful Nell's cafe on the A2 near Gravesend and enjoyed a nice breakfast, well deserved after the long cross country ride to get there.

the next leg along the A2 was less successful as we rode through the north Kent towns and villages, a route I don't think we will take again.

thousands of motorcyclists from the Ace cafe Run filled Margate  but parking was well organised as was the entertainment stalls and displays. the weather held out, with just a few spot of rain to slightly mar a wonderful day.

May Day Run Out

 Monday 4th  May 2009

 Stratford Upon Avon

Although it was the Ace Café Battle of Hastings Run which the club usually attends, Some members, myself primarily,

Did not wish to venture down the hectic, crowded and over policed roads to Hastings.

Instead 14 bikes rode the long and winding roads ( sound like a good title for a song!!) to Stratford Upon Avon.

We stopped at  Ma Larkin's café near Chipping Norton, where the quick service and good food was appreciated.

Although it was a cold and somewhat overcast day members enjoyed a walk around an unusually quite Stratford.

we had a delightful ride home through Banbury, Buckingham, Woburn and Hockcliffe.

ven one members lost wallet, containing all his cards and cash, had a happy ending.

Easter Monday Run Out

Monday 13th April 2009

 Ace Café Southend Shakedown

The first major ride out of the year saw ten bikes and a few pillions make the journey to Southend.

The weather could have been better, it rained a little on the way down and it was overcast all day.

As usual we managed to beat the rush and park on the sea front, we had our usual breakfast break then most people drifted off to enjoy the sights and sounds of this manic day by the sea.

  Bank Holiday Run Out

Margate

Monday 31st May 2008

Our regular bank holiday run went to Margate, along the beautiful north Kent coast

rather than using all the motorways the route took us across country, using roads of course, and only using a small bit of the M25, the Dartford crossing bit, and the a2.

the trip took about 4 hours

with a stop at  Thurrock services in the middle

The journey down was not the best, it was  mistake taking the A2, it was busy, littered with speed cameras and we went through every town and village on the way with 30 limits and red traffic lights.

Margate was not much better, it was a sorry remnant of its once great seaside heritage, boarded up shops and a general run down feeling pervaded the whole place.

generally not one of our better runs.

May Day Run Out

Ace Café Battle of Hastings Run

8 bikes braved the early start to ride down to Hastings, seeing the amount of bikes along the A21 and in Hastings we may have to leave even earlier next year.

A good day was had by all, except the Dartford Crossing Gate Control Man, who lost his drop down barrier to the front of Phil's bike.

Easter Monday Run Out

Ace Café Southend Shakedown

A great time was had by all the riders and pillions of the 17 bikes that turned out for this run to meet up with the thousands, some said 35 to 40 thousand, bikes at Southend.

BRIGHTON RUN - AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY 2004

                             Monday 30th August

Our final bank  holiday run of the year, and perhaps our most successful, saw 17 bikes 7 with pillions and several new members make the trip to Brighton.

  We went on the rather boring M25 and M23, it was the only way;

The trip took about 3 hrs including a stop at Pease Pottage but once at Brighton everyone had a good time, exploring the labyrinthine shopping area of the lanes, disturbing the local street entertainers ( See Photos ) and spending some time in the local hostelry.

Next year ( 2005 ) we will again be running trips on the Bank Holidays, if anyone wants to organise these, or suggest different destinations, please come forward.
